Inspector Credentials — Timothy Dodd
Every coupon received by WeldCertTest is inspected by Timothy Dodd. His credentials are current, verifiable through AWS and ICC, and renewed on schedule. When a QC manager or project inspector asks who performed the CWI inspection on your WPQ, this is the answer.
American Welding Society — per AWS QC1, Standard for AWS Certification of Welding Inspectors
International Code Council — S2 Structural Welding Certification
Credentials are verified and renewed on schedule. Both the AWS CWI and ICC CWI designations require documented examination, ongoing education, and periodic renewal. Verifiable through the American Welding Society at aws.org and the International Code Council at iccsafe.org.
The People Behind the Testing
Timothy Dodd
Timothy Dodd is the owner and operator of Xenogenesis, LLC, the testing company that fulfills all WeldCertTest work. He holds a current AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification (issued under AWS QC1) and an ICC S2 Structural Welding certification — both current and verifiable.
Xenogenesis, LLC is located at 1825 Lockeway Drive Suite 206, Alpharetta, GA 30004 and performs welder performance qualification testing for fabricators, contractors, and welding operations across the United States. All CWI visual inspection is performed by Timothy Dodd personally. Bend testing is conducted at an accredited testing laboratory.
Xenogenesis NDT also offers additional NDT services. See xenogenesisndt.com for the full scope of services.
Roger Baldwin
Roger Baldwin owns and operates WeldCertTest.com as a lead generation and subcontract arrangement with Xenogenesis, LLC. He brings 28 years of experience in the NDT and nondestructive examination industry, including 20 years as the owner of a ground-penetrating radar and NDT imaging company.
Roger's industry background gives WeldCertTest its technical foundation. The site content, qualification guidance, and code references are written from a working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, and the practical realities of welder qualification in construction and fabrication environments.
Questions about testing, shipping, or turnaround time go through WeldCertTest. All inspection and test results are handled by Timothy Dodd at Xenogenesis, LLC.
What WeldCertTest Does — and Does Not Do
The single most important thing to understand about this service is the distinction between testing and training. Search results for welder certification are dominated by training programs, vocational schools, and AWS-affiliated learning centers. WeldCertTest is none of those things.
✓ What We Do
- Accept weld test coupons by mail from anywhere in the US
- Perform AWS CWI visual inspection per applicable code
- Conduct accredited bend testing using calibrated equipment
- Issue official Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) records
- Test to AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, API 1104, AWWA, and specialty codes
- Return results with WPQ documentation your QC department can file
- Provide a Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) with each test if needed
✗ What We Do Not Do
- Teach welding — we do not offer welding classes or courses
- Certify welders in any training or educational sense
- Witness the welding — your welder welds at your facility
- Operate a testing facility you visit in person
- Issue AWS membership cards or AWS-branded credentials
- Provide on-site inspection at your location
How the WeldCertTest / Xenogenesis Arrangement Works
WeldCertTest.com is the customer-facing brand. Xenogenesis, LLC is the testing company. When you submit a quote request, Roger Baldwin coordinates the job details. When your coupon arrives in Alpharetta, Timothy Dodd performs the CWI inspection and oversees the bend testing. The WPQ that comes back to you is issued under Xenogenesis, LLC with Timothy Dodd's CWI credentials documented.
This is a straightforward subcontract arrangement. The credentials are real, the testing is real, and the WPQ documentation holds up to project QC requirements. If your project inspector or owner asks for the CWI's credentials, you have them: AWS CWI #00120381, Timothy Dodd, Xenogenesis LLC, Alpharetta GA.
Service Area
WeldCertTest accepts coupons by mail from all 50 states. The testing location is Alpharetta, GA — but because AWS D1.1 and the other codes we test under do not require the CWI to witness the welding act itself, there is no requirement for your welder to travel or your company to be local.
Fabricators in Texas, pipeline contractors in Wyoming, structural steel shops in Pennsylvania, and shipyards in Louisiana all use mail-in qualification testing. The coupon gets shipped, tested, and your WPQ documentation is returned. See our shipping instructions and estimated timeframes for specifics.
