Ship Your Test Plate

Shipping Instructions:
How to Send Your Test Plates

✓ We Test Your Plates  •  ✗ We Are Not a Welding School  •  ✓ Official WPQ Records Issued

Get the address after your quote is accepted — don't ship blind. Follow these steps and your plates arrive ready to test.

Step zero: Call first. Get your quote accepted and receive the shipping address before you prep anything. Address is provided after scheduling — not posted publicly.
01

Weld the Test Plate Correctly

Follow your WPS exactly. For groove welds: 45° included angle, knife-edge plate prep, ¼" steel backing strip. Let the weld cool to ambient temperature completely. Do not quench or accelerate cooling. No coatings, oils, or rust-preventative products on the weld surface — these interfere with visual inspection and testing.

02

Identify Each Plate Permanently

Mark every plate with: welder's full name, date of weld, welding process, test position, plate thickness, and a unique ID number that ties back to your Test Request Form. Use metal stamp, paint marker, or engraving. It must survive shipping. Documentation errors slow down processing.

03

Gather Required Documentation

Include inside the package: completed Test Request Form (provided after quote acceptance), copy of the applicable WPS, and any special testing instructions. Put documents in a sealed clear plastic bag. Moisture and metal dust destroy paperwork. Don't skip the bag.

04

Package the Plates Properly

Wrap each plate individually to prevent scratching and surface damage. Use foam, bubble wrap, or cardboard separators between plates. Select a rigid box or wooden crate sized appropriately. The box must withstand shipping without collapsing. For multiple plates or heavy plates, wooden crating is recommended. For single submissions, a sturdy double-wall cardboard box is fine.

05

Ship to the Provided Address

Use the exact address provided after quote acceptance. Use UPS, FedEx, or freight for heavy shipments. Get a tracking number. Consider shipping insurance for multi-welder submissions. Notify us when the shipment is in transit with the tracking number so we can confirm receipt and begin processing promptly.

Important: If your project requires specific NDE beyond standard bend tests — RT (X-ray), UT — note this clearly on the Test Request Form before shipping. We need this information upfront to coordinate the right testing method.
